My New Book!

Brain Power

Simple Steps to Protect Children’s

Intelligence From a Toxic Environment

Finally completed through much trial and error I was able to complete my book and have it in my hands today! Thanks to all the help at Createspace I am truly a “self published author.”

I was compelled to write this book out of my concern as to what is happening to our children today living in a toxic environment. It is up to us as parents and grandparents to provide the best we are capable of for our children and grandchildren.

Why Brain Power? Creative thought depends upon a well nourished brain. Unfortunately, we are being bombarded with toxic chemicals from all fronts. I wanted to help make parents aware that there are steps that can be taken to combat these attacks and have our kids be all they can be.

In Brain Power I lay out the road blocks that are keeping our children from reaching their full potential and I discuss in detail our children’s vulnerability to toxic chemicals and discuss research that shows how chronic

Disease in children is raising at an alarming rate. Research shows that diseases such as cancer, asthma, leukemia are at an alarming increase. Dyslexia, autism, ADHA and other neurological diseases are becoming so prevalent that we are becoming hardened to what we see happening around us!

Brain Power also exposes the hidden toxins in our food and water supply, the hidden toxins in our homes and how changes in farming has depleted the nutrients from our food supply.

I don’t leave you hanging. Brain Power takes you through simple steps on how you and your family can overcome the negative effects of living in a toxic world.

Parents, grandparents, we are responsible for our children’s well being. They have no choice. They do what we as parents provide for them. Grandparents buy this book and give it as a gift to the parents of your grandchildren.

WAKE UP America, this is not happening in some third world country, Monsanto and others like them are using us as a giant biochemical experiment. The rest of Europe is laughing at us. Many countries will not import anything that is GMO, they have banned fluoride, they are looking at us not as leaders any more, but in many ways foolish.

You can buy my books at www.lucrews.com or email at www.ahealthyyou15@gmail, if you are local. They are only $10, but contain a lot of very valuable information.

If you are new to Lu’s Views, you can go to my Blog and see all my back issues. I highly recommend you do that. I have provided some very valuable information, especially on water. My Blog is www.ahealthyyousite.wordpress.com

Bless you and bless all those who have, and who are protecting us as a nation, so that we may sleep peacefully. God Bless America on this Memorial Day.

Next week I will be discussing another “hot” item in the news today.

#8 Choosing A Water Filter

Choosing A Water Filter

There are so many different water filtration systems on the market how do you choose? I will list the different filters I have researched and give you some ideas.

Water Filtration Types. There are hundreds of brands of home water filtration systems. Some filters use a combination of technologies, while others rely on just one kind.

Choose the filter that will suit your family and your budget. But be sure to get a filter system that has at least a four stage filtering system. Anything less is not worth the price.

Faucet Mounted. These attach directly to your water faucet. Relatively inexpensive, but does not accomplish what you want in purified water.

Pitcher Dispensers. Pitchers or large dispensers with activated or solid carbon filters. There are many, many different kinds available. Do not go for the cheap single/double system. Brita filters do not remove the toxins you need removed. Again, look at least a four stage filter.

On-Counter. On counter typically sit on the counter, sometimes with a line connecting directly to the faucet.

Under sink. Under sink filters are mounted under the kitchen sink where they are fitted to the water supply line. They range in filtration from carbon charcoal to reverse osmosis.

Whole House Filters. These filters are attached to the main water line coming into the house. This is ideal, as it not only filters your drinking water, but the water you use to shower in. Our skin absorbs more toxins than any other organ. It also provides you filtered water to brush your teeth and cook with. These are very expensive, but well worth having.

You need to do the research and decide which type you want and how much you are willing to pay. This is an expense that will pay off in the end.

Watch out for words like “filter”, “reduce”, and “taste better”, they are vague and really do not mean anything. You need a filtering system that is classified as a “water purification” system. You need a system that states it removes chlorine, fluoride, lead, mercury, etc.

As for my personal opinion. At this time, I use a four stage pitcher filter. We live in a condo and it is only my husband and I. So at this stage in our lives, this is a good choice.

When we had a big house with all my children living at home, I did have a whole house filtering system. I loved it and thought it was well worth the expense.

There are a couple filters I do not recommend, but everyone has their own opinion. Reverse osmosis removes the contaminates, but in doing so they use a tremendous amount of water, which I think is counterproductive in the wasted water.

Distillation of your water. I do not recommend this water. You may get purified water, but also devoid of all the natural minerals your body needs. Let me remind you, you do need to add some sort of additional minerals to your water, so that you are hydrating your body, not just watering it down with dead water.

Alkaline/Acid systems. I am very much in favor of keeping an alkaline/acid environment in your body. This is one of my favorite subjects. But drinking this kind of water, especially

With a meal with disrupt your digestion because we need the acid in our stomachs to properly digest our food.

Also, the cheaper systems have smaller filters and they have to be changed very frequently which drives the cost up.

My closing remarks are that you have to have some find of water purification system. There is no question about it. Let me ask you, how much is the health of you and your family really worth?

Next week I have a surprise for you that I am really excited about!

#7 Bottled Water – A Blessing or A Curse

Many may argue that bottled water is a blessing because of the convenience of having water so readily available.  And after all, didn’t I tell you how important it is to hydrate?

Some articles I have read say we are replacing drinking high sugared drinks with drinking water. This is evident with all the high profile soda companies, i.e., coke, pepsi, etc., are now the leading produces of bottled water.  Did they see the writing on the wall, money to be made, or were they trying to replace so called lost income from people drinking more water than soda.  Soda and sport drink consumption is still high in this country, so I think it was the potential profit they saw in going into the water business. Just think of the higher profit that is being made with the bottled water industry.

Bottled water does have its place.  It is convenient, as I stated last week, it is readily available.  In emergency situations, i.e. hurricanes, contamination of public drinking water, like Flint Michigan, traveling to countries where it is advised not to drink the water, these are times we are very happy to have bottled water.

But our love affair with drinking bottled water has not come about accidentally. The first thing you need to do is convince people that drinking tap water is unhealthy and use fear advertising. “Tap water and toilet water come from the same source.” As you saw in last week’s video, we are easily brain washed into thinking bottled water is glamorous.

On the other hand, the following points show how bottled water can be a curse, both the plastic bottle and the water used.

  • 8% of the bottled water we buy is actually just repackaged tap water.
  • Ground water mining is a serious problem. Bottled water companies pump millions of gallons of water out the the ground. That means that there is less water for people to use. They are making a profit from this depletion of water.
  • California is a good example of this. Bottled water companies are pumping water from municipal water supplies where there is a serious drought. Not only are the people of California being harmed, but the farmer who is having to conserve water when watering his crops.
  • Voss water, one of the most expensive bottled waters we can buy, has come under question as to their source. A Norwegian TV station has insinuated that the Voss water when tested is identical to a municipal water supply.  One thing going for Voss, is their glass bottles, if they are reused or recycled.
  • Plastic bottles are responsible for one of the ocean’s most pressing environmental problems.
  • Only 1 out of 6 plastic bottles are recycled – 5 end up in land fills or the ocean.
  • Pollution caused in the production of plastic bottles and the use of crude oil in the plastic.
  • PET plastic used in bottled water is not completely safe.

Next week I will talk about how to break the habit of buying bottled water. Just think of the

Money you could save.

#6 Bottled Water Scandal

I have given you information about the contaminates in our faucet water and now I am probably going to expose another lie we are swallowing that bottle water is safer and better than the water we are getting from our faucets or drinking fountains.

Remember when the drinking fountain was our free source of H2O?  If we were thirsty and out and about, we would quench our thirst by drinking from a public drinking fountain in the park or the fountain in the shopping mall or in the halls of our schools?  The only warning my mom gave me, was to let the fountain run for a minute, and do not put your mouth on the water spigot.  Those fountains have all but disappeared and very few people avail themselves of these fountains.

In the early 1900’s bottled water was marketed at health springs who touted their water as having “magical” healing benefits.  In the 1970’s a study came out from the Environmental Protection Agency identifying a number of chemicals in our municipal water supplies which were unhealthy.  The study was set up to define guidelines for the Safe Drinking Water Act, which had recently been created. Little bottled water was sold, mostly sparkling mineral water and large bottles to supply office water coolers.

In the 1980’s personal bottled water started showing up.  At that time many people’s reaction was “who would be foolish enough to pay for water?”

Well in the 1990’s the craze took off. At that time did anyone ever think that the bottled water industry would grow to become a 100-billion-dollar industry? That people would be paying 10,000 times more per gallon for bottled water than for tap water?  That a huge industry would be built around just one product – bottled water?  Have you looked around lately, what do you see, the student on his way to school with his backpack and a plastic bottle of water; someone on their way to work with his computer and a bottle of water; a business meeting with everyone nursing a plastic bottle of water; or vending machines everywhere selling plastic bottles of water.  And these are just the tip of the plastic water bottle faze.

So how do you convince consumers to buy something that is essentially the same as (will discuss this later) and far cheaper and more easily accessible? You spend billions of dollars to promote perceived advantages of your product and you emphasize the flaws in the alternative. For water bottlers this means selling safety, style, and convenience, and playing on consumer’s fears.  If we have been made to fear our tap water, sales skyrocket!

In my newsletter next week I will discuss the advantages (and there are some) and disadvantages of drinking bottled water, and eventually the alternative to the best kind of water to drink.

A short video follows pointing out one of the major problems with this huge bottled water industry.
